EFE Verifica launched a new website and consolidated its position as an international player in fact-checking by participating in European and Latin American initiatives. After joining in 2020 the global database of hoaxes #CoronaVirusFacts, it joined #LatamChequeaVacunas, a similar initiative that gathers content from the main fact-checkers in Latin America. It also joined IBERIFIER, a digital media observatory in Spain and Portugal, promoted by the European Commission with links to the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO). In summer it launched its own WhatsApp channel and started #VacunaCheck, a project to distribute information about vaccines to Spanish pharmacies. It made its debut on TikTok -the first for EFE- thanks to a project funded by the European Stars4Media program on digital literacy. Other initiatives made it possible to train and raise awareness against disinformation in collaboration with the UNDP, Casa Africa and the SEK educational group.
In addition, EFE Verifica participated in workshops on political communication management and fake news in collaboration with UN Women and contributed to the training of Latin American and Kenyan journalists.
